What happened
On the date of the incident, a twin-engine transport aircraft departed from Jayapura-Sentani Airport. The flight was destined for Mulia, carrying a total of four crew members along with a cargo of logistics supplies intended for the Puncak Jaya Police Department.
As the aircraft approached its destination in Mulia, it encountered marginal weather conditions. During this phase of the flight, the aircraft impacted the slope of a mountain situated roughly 33 km northwest of the Mulia area. Following the impact, search efforts were conducted, and the wreckage was located two days after the initial event. All four individuals on board the aircraft perished in the accident.
Findings
The investigation into the crash concluded that the primary factor leading to the impact with the terrain was controlled flight into terrain.
