What happened
A twin-engine aircraft departed from Jayapura-Sentani Airport, traveling toward Mulia with a cargo of logistics supplies intended for the Puncak Jaya Police Department. During the approach to its destination, the aircraft encountered marginal weather conditions. While navigating the area, the plane impacted a mountain slope situated approximately 33 km northwest of Mulia.
Search efforts located the wreckage two days after the incident. There were four fatalities among the crew members on board the twin-engine aircraft.
Findings
The accident occurred while the aircraft was in the approach phase of flight. The presence of marginal weather conditions during the descent into Mulia was a significant factor in the flight's circumstances.
