What happened
An unidentified twin-engine aircraft entered the airspace of the Dominican Republic without receiving the necessary flight clearance. During this unauthorized entry, the aircraft was reportedly tracked by an A-29B Super Tucano. Following this interception attempt, the plane went down in a sugar cane field situated in the Batey Palo Bonito region.
The impact of the crash and a subsequent fire caused the total destruction of the airframe. There were two fatalities resulting from the accident, as both occupants of the aircraft were killed upon impact.
Findings
Preliminary information suggests the flight may have been engaged in an unauthorized mission involving the transport of contraband. The aircraft's entry into the country's sovereign airspace occurred without official permission, leading to the interception by military assets.
