What happened
A solo pilot was operating a flight from Los Mochis International Airport toward the Club Aéreo Nuevo Santa Rosa, located to the east-northeast of the city. During the flight, the aircraft landed on a road rather than a designated runway. Following this touchdown, the plane experienced a failure of the undercarriage, which caused the aircraft to veer toward the right side of the path. The movement resulted in the plane coming to a stop in a nearby grassy area, where it subsequently ignited.
Findings
- The pilot was the only person on board the aircraft.
- The incident resulted in zero fatalities and zero injuries as the pilot was able to evacuate the wreckage safely.
- The aircraft sustained serious damage due to the resulting fire.
- The primary factor in the accident was the landing on a roadway instead of a prepared landing surface.
