What happened
During a routine flight, a twin-engine aircraft arrived at Andahuaylas Airport and completed a standard landing on runway 03. The flight proceeded without incident until the aircraft reached a speed of approximately 40 knots during its deceleration phase. At this point, the aircraft began to drift toward the left side of the runway.
Despite efforts by the crew to correct the directional deviation, the aircraft continued to move leftward, eventually exiting the paved surface. The aircraft traveled across a grassy area and proceeded down an embankment that was four meters in height before finally coming to a stop.
While the aircraft sustained damage beyond repair, there were no casualties among the 19 occupants, all of whom escaped the wreckage without injury.
Findings
- The aircraft experienced a loss of directional control during the landing roll.
- The excursion was characterized by a leftward deviation that led the aircraft off the runway and down a steep embankment.
