Accident Overview
An aircraft was destroyed following a landing accident at Dnepropetrovsk Airport. The approach was conducted in strong crosswinds, and the flight crew made several errors during the approach phase. The captain allowed the aircraft to descend below the glide path and did not execute a go-around.
Landing and Impact
Upon touchdown, the left main landing gear collapsed, causing the left wing to strike the ground. The aircraft then veered off the runway to the left and came to rest engulfed in flames.
Evacuation and Injuries
All 35 occupants on board were evacuated from the aircraft. Of those, 14 sustained injuries. The aircraft itself was destroyed by the impact and subsequent fire.
Probable Cause
The official investigation determined the probable cause to be: Wrong approach configuration on part of the flying crew.
