What happened
During a night flight originating from Tyumen, an aircraft was performing its final approach to Khanty-Mansiysk Airport under challenging meteorological conditions. The area was experiencing snowfall, which had reduced visibility to 5,300 metres and lowered the cloud base to 400 metres.
While descending, the aircraft dropped below the minimum descent altitude. The flight concluded with a landing at a speed of 190 km/h on a helipad situated 950 metres from the runway threshold and 159 metres to the left of the runway centerline. Upon impact, the aircraft struck three helicopters that were parked at the site. The collision caused the destruction of the primary aircraft along with three other helicopters, specifically registered RA-22313, RA-25144, and RA-25939.
Findings
- The incident resulted in five fatalities, involving both pilots, one crew member, and two passengers.
