Aena Group airports report 41.4 million passengers for August 2026
Aena Group airports handled 41.38 million passengers in August 2026, a 4.7% rise on the same month last year, while freight traffic fell. Spanish airports accounted for 34.89 million of the total.

Aena Group airports handled 41.38 million passengers in August 2026, up 4.7% on the same month a year earlier, the operator said. Aircraft movements rose 4.5% to 330,526. Freight traffic fell 5.7% to 116,723 tonnes.
Spanish airports accounted for 34.89 million of those passengers, also up 4.7%. Madrid-Barajas was the busiest with 6.54 million passengers, an increase of 4.8%. Barcelona-El Prat followed with 5.93 million, up 4.6%, and Palma de Mallorca with 4.81 million, up 2.3%. Alicante grew 11.4% and Valencia 10.1%, while Tenerife South fell 4.2%.
Spain's airports handled 273,292 aircraft movements, 4.3% more than a year earlier. Freight volumes there declined 5.2% to 104,356 tonnes, which the operator attributed mainly to a 12% drop at Madrid-Barajas. Barcelona, Zaragoza and Vitoria posted increases.
In Brazil, the group's 17 airports welcomed 3.98 million passengers, up 3.2%. London Luton handled 1.95 million, up 7.8%. Leeds Bradford, part of the group since May, recorded 561,312 passengers, an increase of 3.2%.
For the first eight months of the year, Aena Group airports handled 272.25 million passengers, 4.1% more than in the same period of 2025. Aircraft movements were up 3.7% over that span, while freight volumes declined 1.2%.
