Air Algérie has announced plans to add two new long-haul routes connecting Algiers to Asia. The airline intends to begin flights to Shanghai and New Delhi later this year, according to the carrier.

The Shanghai route is scheduled to start on October 26, with three weekly flights operating on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. This new service will complement Air Algérie's existing connections to Beijing and Guangzhou in China.

Separately, flights to New Delhi are set to begin on October 25, also with three weekly departures, operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

Both new routes will be operated using the Airbus A330-900neo, the airline said. The expansion marks a further step in Air Algérie's push to grow its presence in Asian markets, building on its established footprint in China with the addition of a route to India for the first time.

No further details on pricing, connecting flights or aircraft configuration have been disclosed at this stage.
