Frontier resumes Oakland flights with new Las Vegas route
Frontier Airlines has restarted service at Oakland International Airport after nearly three years away, launching nonstop flights to Las Vegas.
Frontier Airlines is back at Oakland International Airport this week, after roughly three years away from the Bay Area airport. The carrier has started nonstop flights between Oakland and Las Vegas, with 11 flights a week planned on the route.
Frontier last served Oakland in 2023. It has kept flying to the Bay Area through San Francisco and San Jose in the meantime, so Oakland now becomes its third airport in the region.
Tyri Squyres, a Frontier executive, said the return gives the airline a chance to offer lower-cost travel options for visitors to the Bay Area, as well as for local passengers flying to Las Vegas and onward destinations, according to the airline.
The Oakland-Las Vegas launch fits into a wider expansion push at Frontier. The airline is also getting ready to start a new route between Las Vegas and Boise, Idaho, next month.
The announcement did not include pricing details or aircraft type.
