Air Astana to restart Dubai flights in October after months-long suspension

Air Astana intends to resume scheduled flights to Dubai from both of its Kazakh hubs in early October 2026, ending a suspension in place since July that was postponed several times.

Almaty flights restart on October 1, 2026, and Astana follows a day later. Capacity returns in stages across the month, not all at once. The Almaty-Dubai sector begins at four weekly flights and reaches 12 a week by the end of October. From Astana, the carrier opens with three weekly services and builds to 10.

The route has been switched on and off throughout the year. Air Astana first halted UAE flights over airspace restrictions, then restored nonstop Astana-Dubai service on July 4, 2026, daily by early August. That return lasted days. On July 12, 2026, the airline suspended the route again as military tensions rose. Flight KC205 from Astana to Dubai turned back in mid-journey, and KC897 from Almaty was scrapped before departure.

Extensions followed, first to July 21, 2026, then through August 31, 2026, with the airline citing worsening conditions in the Strait of Hormuz and the wider Gulf. A later extension carried the halt to September 30, 2026.

Air Astana said it will keep watching events in the region and that its timetable could change as the situation develops. Passengers will be told about any further alterations.
