Turkish Airlines near finalising order for 150 Boeing 737 Max jets

Turkish Airlines is close to finalising an order for 150 Boeing 737 Max aircraft, according to a report. The order is part of a package of 225 Boeing aircraft the carrier announced last year.

A dispute with engine manufacturer CFM had held up the deal, the report said. At one point the airline threatened to replace the 150 737 Max jets with Airbus aircraft. Prices and long-term servicing of the engines were among the points of contention.

A conclusion could come as early as next week. Industry sources say the carrier is also seeking a leading role in CFM's maintenance network and intends to build a dedicated maintenance centre for the 737 Max engines.
