Air France wins Skytrax award for world's best first class

Air France won the World's Best First Class Airline title at the Skytrax World Airline Awards, taking the top first-class honour for the first time. The award centres on La Première, the new suite the French carrier unveiled in spring 2025.

The airline also placed first in two other first-class categories, for lounge catering and comfort products, and was named best airline in Western Europe for a sixth consecutive year.

In the overall Skytrax airline ranking, Air France moved up one place from the previous year to seventh. The awards are based on an international survey of air travellers.

La Première is being fitted progressively on Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, according to the airline. Each suite has a seat and a separate chaise longue that converts into a bed around two metres long, along with five windows per suite. Air France said it worked on the product for about three years.

To mark the Skytrax result, the carrier released a documentary of roughly 35 minutes about La Première. It also traces the development of first class at Air France, a history the airline says stretches back about 70 years.
