SKY Airline and Qantas sign interline agreement linking South America and Oceania

SKY Airline has signed an interline agreement with Qantas Airways, which the South American carrier calls Australia's main airline. The agreement is already operating, according to SKY, and marks the first link between the carrier's network and travellers arriving from Oceania.

Qantas customers can now buy integrated itineraries that include segments operated by SKY, with transit through Santiago. Destinations listed as reachable include Lima, Peru; Buenos Aires and Mendoza, Argentina; São Paulo and Florianópolis, Brazil; Montevideo, Uruguay; and various cities within Chile. SKY said connections from Sydney to points in the region are optimised.

The integration offers a single ticket for the whole trip, a single check-in, and through-tagging of baggage to the final destination, so passengers do not need to re-check bags at intermediate points.

Julio Solar, SKY's manager of routes and alliances, said the agreement connects the airline's network with travellers from Oceania for the first time and strengthens its presence in what he called a new strategic market. The alliance is intended to give more international travellers access to the South American network, supporting tourism and regional connectivity, he added.

The addition of Qantas is part of SKY's broader alliance strategy, complementing its existing connectivity agreements with other carriers.
