Air Greenland spins off ground handling into new subsidiary, Greenland Handling

Air Greenland has moved its ground handling operations into a new subsidiary, Greenland Handling, which began work on 15 October with more than 140 staff.

Air Greenland has carved its ground handling activities out into a new subsidiary. The unit, named Greenland Handling, started operating on 15 October and has more than 140 employees at launch.

Its work covers passenger, aircraft and cargo handling at the airports in Nuuk and Ilulissat. In Qaqortoq, Sisimiut and Upernavik it handles passengers only. Staff are initially based at Nuuk, Ilulissat and Qaqortoq.

According to the airline, the split responds to the expansion of Greenland's airport infrastructure and expected growth in air traffic. It also aims to draw a clearer organisational line between flight operations and ground handling.
