Airbus A220 cabin design sets it apart from larger narrowbodies

The Airbus A220's cabin, designed from the outset around passengers rather than adapted from an older airframe, gives it five-abreast economy seating and larger windows than typical single-aisle jets.

The Airbus A220 has a cabin that feels roomier than many passengers expect on a single-aisle jet. The aircraft began life as the Bombardier C Series before Airbus took over the programme, and its interior was designed around passengers from the start rather than fitted into an existing airframe.

Its economy cabin seats five passengers across each row, where larger narrowbody aircraft usually carry six. That extra width per passenger, along with unusually large windows and more personal space, sets the type apart from bigger single-aisle models. The effect holds even on a full flight. The cabin can feel less crowded than its size suggests.
