American Airlines to launch Miami–Barcelona, Venezuela route in January 2027
American Airlines announced a new nonstop service between Miami and Barcelona, in Venezuela's Anzoátegui state, starting 15 January 2027, with three weekly flights.

American Airlines will open a nonstop route between Miami and Barcelona, in Venezuela's Anzoátegui state, starting 15 January 2027, the airline said. The service will link the eastern Venezuelan city directly to the carrier's hub at Miami International Airport for the first time.
Flights will operate three times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, according to the airline. Departures from Miami are scheduled for 10:15 a.m., arriving at 2:52 p.m.; the return leaves Barcelona at 3:32 p.m. and reaches Miami at 6:19 p.m. Embraer 175 aircraft will fly the route, fitted with a premium cabin, Wi-Fi and power outlets at the seats.
Barcelona joins Caracas and Maracaibo on the carrier's Venezuela network. With the new operation, American Airlines will total 24 weekly flights between the United States and Venezuela from its Miami base: two daily frequencies to Caracas, one daily to Maracaibo and the new Barcelona schedule.
Earlier this year the airline became the first US carrier to resume flights to Venezuela since 2019, it said. It also operated a humanitarian flight to Caracas after earthquakes struck the country, carrying more than 9,000 pounds of essential supplies, and was the first US operator to restore daily services once Caracas reopened to international flights.
American Airlines has previously said it will install Starlink satellite internet across its main fleet.
