American Airlines began flying between Chicago O'Hare and South Bend, Indiana, on Monday. The route had been served by a Landline motorcoach connection.

The O'Hare–South Bend flights use regional aircraft and run three times daily. American said in August it would switch from ground transport to flights.

Earlier in the week the carrier ended its Landline service between O'Hare and Rockford, Illinois. That connection is not being replaced with air service.

The two changes end American's partnership with Landline at O'Hare. The companies still work together at Philadelphia International Airport, where Landline offers connections to Allentown/Bethlehem, Atlantic City, Trenton-Mercer, Wilmington and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
