American plans largest Admirals Club lounge at Charlotte
American Airlines will build a 40,000-square-foot Admirals Club at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, the biggest in its network. Construction begins later this year and no opening date has been given.

American Airlines has confirmed it will build a 40,000-square-foot Admirals Club at Charlotte Douglas International Airport in North Carolina, the largest lounge in its network.
According to the airline, the club will sit on the mezzanine level of the airport atrium and will have bars, food service areas, shower suites, and separate zones for work and relaxation.
Heather Garboden, American's chief customer officer, said in a news release that the design is meant to give passengers more room to rest, work and refresh, and that the airline is pleased to bring its biggest Admirals Club to Charlotte, which she said handles millions of travellers each year.
Construction is due to start later this year. American said its existing lounges at the airport will remain open during the work: two Admirals Club locations in Concourse B and Concourse C/D, plus a smaller Provisions by Admirals Club space near Gate A1.
The airline said last year that it planned to add a Flagship lounge at Charlotte and expand its Admirals Club presence there, without offering much detail. On Tuesday it confirmed the Flagship project is still in development.
American has not said when the new Admirals Club will open.
