American to let AAdvantage members combine miles and cash on bookings

American Airlines will let AAdvantage members pay for flights with miles and cash combined, the carrier said Friday.

The option will be available on aa.com and in American's app. Members signed in to AAdvantage will see a slider for choosing how much of the fare to cover with miles and how much with cash, and the ticket cost summary updates automatically once a combination is picked.

Scott Long, American's Senior Vice President of AAdvantage, said the option is another step in efforts to give members more personalized ways to engage with the program and draw more value from their membership.

Officials said it will launch in the coming weeks. American did not give a specific date.
