Smartwings appoints new chief executive and finance chief after Pegasus takeover
Czech carrier Smartwings has named Emre Pekesen as chief executive and Nur Karabacak as chief financial officer, following its acquisition by Turkey's Pegasus Airlines.

Smartwings has named a new chief executive and chief financial officer, its first top-level management change since Turkish budget carrier Pegasus Airlines acquired the Czech airline.
Emre Pekesen becomes chief executive. He has worked at Pegasus since 2010 and was most recently the group's director of sales and network planning. Nur Karabacak takes the finance role, having joined Pegasus in 2018 and served as group head of budget, reporting and cost control before the move.
Both appointments took effect on 1 October. According to the airline, Pekesen and Karabacak succeed Roman Vik and Jiri Juran respectively.
Czech government company registry information for Smartwings lists Juran as chairman of a three-member board. Its other members are Jiri Benes and Michal Stasek.
