Austrian Airlines has resumed giving passengers Mozartkugeln at the end of flights, after the giveaway was briefly halted, the carrier said. Cabin crew had handed out the chocolate, nougat and marzipan sweets since October 2025 as a small farewell gift.

The cooperation with Vienna confectioner Manner and its Victor Schmidt brand was initially set at twelve million pieces, or one year. When the sweets stopped appearing, passengers voiced regret and some anger on social media.

The airline said the distribution had been "only briefly suspended." A spokesperson said the Mozartkugeln are again a fixed part of the onboard offering and are being handed to travellers. The partnership will continue next year as well, the airline said.

The Victor Schmidt Austria Mozartkugel has a small chocolate base, which keeps it from rolling around. Each piece contains roughly 85 calories.
