ASL Airlines Australia's Planned Acquisition of Airwork Falls Through
The proposed takeover of New Zealand cargo carrier Airwork by ASL Airlines Australia has been abandoned, according to insolvency administrators. Airwork, which remains operational, is expected to be sold to another buyer by the first quarter of 2027.
The planned acquisition of New Zealand cargo carrier Airwork by ASL Airlines Australia has collapsed. Insolvency administrators said a conditional sale agreement that had been signed was never completed. Aero South Pacific reports Airwork is now expected to be sold to a different purchaser by the end of the first quarter of 2027.
Airwork has been in insolvency proceedings since mid-2025 but continues flying, including for Qantas and Parcelair. Creditor claims stood at US$77.2 million at the time of the latest report. Administrators are also selling assets not needed for the freight operation.
