Aurora Airlines to adopt domestically developed ACARS system
Russia's Aurora Airlines will be equipped with a domestically built ACARS communications system, according to state technology group Rostec, replacing foreign solutions no longer available because of sanctions.

Aurora Airlines will equip its fleet with an ACARS system developed in Russia, according to the state technology group Rostec. The system comes from Azimut, a Rostec subsidiary, and handles the digital data link between aircraft and the ground.
It is meant to replace foreign systems that sanctions have made unavailable. Crews and ground staff use it to exchange technical condition data, maintenance information and operational instructions in real time. Azimut has built its own network of ground stations for the service.
Rostec said the Russian ACARS system already carries more than 30 million messages a year. Aeroflot and Belarusian carrier Belavia are among previous users. Rostec also said other foreign airlines have made enquiries.
