Eurowings drops planned Dubai flights from Cologne/Bonn and Stuttgart

Eurowings has cancelled two of three planned winter routes to Dubai, citing weak tourist demand and high fuel costs on the longer sector. Flights from Berlin remain on sale.

Eurowings has confirmed it will not operate the Dubai services it announced for Cologne/Bonn and Stuttgart. Both routes are gone from its booking system for the whole winter season. Of the three connections the carrier publicised at the end of September, only the planned daily flight from Berlin remains.

At that time Eurowings set out a substantial expansion of its Dubai programme for the 2026/27 winter timetable, saying it would fly to the emirate up to 14 times a week: three weekly departures from Cologne/Bonn, four from Stuttgart and a daily service from Berlin. Half of that offering has now been withdrawn.

A spokesperson attributed the decision to tourist demand for Dubai not yet having returned to its earlier level, and to high kerosene costs weighing on the economics of the comparatively long route. The airline said it regretted the move and any inconvenience for affected passengers, who it said would be informed promptly and rebooked onto alternative Lufthansa Group connections to Dubai.

The source notes that the Saudi capital's airport was the target of deadly attacks, and that Riyadh lies roughly 900 kilometres from Dubai.

Eurowings is not the first carrier to pull back. Condor had already decided three weeks earlier to remove its Dubai flights from its programme; it had planned daily services from Berlin and Stuttgart.
