Avolon has ordered 110 Airbus aircraft, 75 A320neo Family jets and 35 A330-900s.
The lessor said the deal adds to its existing commitments and brings its total A330-900 count to 114 and its A320 Family total to roughly 650 aircraft.
Avolon said demand for new aircraft remains strong and the order strengthens its long-term delivery pipeline, positioning it to meet airline customers' fleet growth and replacement needs into the next decade. It expects demand for both the A330neo and the A320neo to stay strong, citing the long-term growth trajectory of the aviation sector, and called the agreement an expansion of its longstanding partnership with Airbus.
Airbus called the order a significant one for both the A330neo and the A320neo Family and thanked Avolon for its repeat endorsement of its products.
According to the announcement, the A330neo is powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines and can fly up to 8,100 nautical miles, or 15,000 kilometres, non-stop. Airbus says the type cuts fuel burn, CO2 emissions and operating costs by 25% against previous generation competitor aircraft. The A320 Family, described as the world's most popular single-aisle aircraft, offers at least 20% fuel savings and CO2 reduction compared with previous generation single-aisle aircraft, with what Airbus calls one of the widest single-aisle cabins in the sky.
Avolon said the purchase confirms its position as the leading lessor for the A330-900.
