A British Airways flight from Barcelona to London ran into loud mechanical noise and strong vibration near the forward left cabin door as it descended over France on Friday morning, according to an account of the occurrence.

Flight BA487, an Airbus A320 registered G-EUUZ, left Barcelona-El Prat Airport at 06:00 UTC bound for London Heathrow, a scheduled trip of about two and a half hours. The disturbance began at 09:32 UTC, as the aircraft started its descent from 34,000 feet. The noise and vibration came from the area of Door 1L, the main forward passenger entry door on the left side.

The flight deck reported the noise was loud enough that the crew could barely hear one another speak in the cockpit. The pilots made an entry in the aircraft's technical log and used a cockpit iPad to record video of the condition for maintenance engineers.

The crew kept control and continued the approach into the London terminal area. The flight landed on Runway 27L at Heathrow at 11:10 local time and taxied to the gate normally.

No passengers or crew were injured. British Airways maintenance teams have inspected the aircraft to find the source of the noise and vibration around the cabin door structure.
