British Airways to split Rio and Buenos Aires service from 2027
British Airways will end its London Heathrow triangle route linking Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires in March 2027, replacing it with separate daily flights to each city.
British Airways is splitting its South America triangle service from 28 March 2027. The existing rotation links London Heathrow, Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires on one aircraft.
Rio de Janeiro keeps a daily direct flight from Heathrow, though the aircraft changes. The route moves from a Boeing 777-200ER to a Boeing 787-8 with 214 seats. According to the airline, capacity available solely for Rio will increase, because seats are no longer reserved for passengers flying on to Buenos Aires.
Buenos Aires gets its own daily nonstop service to and from Heathrow. From the Argentine capital the flight continues to Santiago de Chile.
The combined routing that served both South American cities on one aircraft rotation ends.
