Hawaiian and Alaska to add Boeing 737-800 flights within Hawaii from October
Hawaiian Airlines and Alaska Airlines will place Boeing 737-800s on inter-island routes from 3 October, with three daily round trips between Honolulu and Kahului. The 737s will fly under the Alaska Airlines brand while Hawaiian's Boeing 717s remain the backbone of the inter-island network.

The flights will carry the Alaska Airlines brand. The airline says they add passenger and cargo capacity.
For now the inter-island network still rests on Hawaiian's Boeing 717 fleet, which flies around 140 times a day. Hawaiian intends to retire the 717s in 2028 and switch entirely to Boeing 737s. Those will fly under the Hawaiian Airlines brand, with a new cabin, free Starlink Wi-Fi and other features.
