Brussels Airport starts €25m renewal of Pier A boarding bridges
Brussels Airport has begun a renovation of the 33 passenger boarding bridges at Pier A, the terminal used for Schengen flights, with completion targeted for 2031.
Work has begun on the boarding bridges at Brussels Airport's Pier A, which handles Schengen flights. All 33 bridges are covered by the project, valued at about €25m (US$29m).
Completion is expected by 2031. The oldest bridges date from 2002, when the pier opened. After close to 25 years of daily operation, the airport says several technical and structural components are due for renewal.
Each bridge was assessed individually to establish which parts need refurbishing and which need replacing.
