Condor prepares Frankfurt Terminal 3 move under project "Da Vinci"

Condor will move its Frankfurt operations from Terminal 1 to the airport's new Terminal 3 in mid-April 2027. The airline is preparing for the move under an internal project called "Da Vinci", according to a letter to staff.

Condor announced the transfer in February 2026, for summer 2027. Before that, chief executive Peter Gerber had been cautious when asked about a move, saying a full summer season would be needed to see whether the airport could handle it in terms of baggage and passenger flows. That observation phase continues through the current summer 2026 schedule.

The letter says the basic requirements have now been defined, and the concepts are being worked out step by step and agreed with internal and external partners. Joint working groups with airport operator Fraport are developing future processes in the terminal and on the apron, including aircraft positions, check-in and baggage handling, passenger and transfer routes, and special processes for destinations such as Israel, the United States and Canada.

A gate designed specifically for flights to Tel Aviv is being developed with Fraport, meeting special security requirements set by the federal police. Pier G will also see the preparation of walk boarding, which the letter describes as new for Frankfurt.
