Condor says Frankfurt fuel shortage has not affected its flights

Condor reports no operational impact from jet fuel supply limits at Frankfurt Airport, while Lufthansa has begun precautionary refuelling on select routes into the hub. Low Rhine water levels and pipeline capacity constraints are behind the supply problems.

Condor says the tight jet fuel supply at Frankfurt Airport is not affecting its flight operations. All flights are operating as planned and there are no restrictions for passengers, the airline said.

It added that it is in close contact with its partners and monitoring how the supply situation develops.

The background is a supply problem at Germany's largest airport. Because of low water levels on the Rhine, tanker vessels have for months been able to deliver only limited amounts of jet fuel. Capacity limits on a pipeline are a further factor.

Lufthansa has already taken precautionary steps. On selected connections, the group's airlines are tanking additional fuel before flying to Frankfurt so that they need to take on less there. Lufthansa does not currently expect flight cancellations.

Condor did not say whether it has made any changes to its own refuelling practice. Its statement covers only the current status of its schedule and the absence of passenger impact.
