Lufthansa's first Airbus A350-1000 is due to arrive in mid-November, when it moves from Toulouse to Munich. The aircraft, registered D-AIFA and named Deutschland, flew for the first time from Toulouse on 5 October. The flight lasted about three and a half hours and crossed France and the Bay of Biscay.

The airline plans the type's first commercial flight with passengers on 3 December, to Tokyo-Haneda. Shanghai and Singapore follow in the weeks after. On all three routes Lufthansa will alternate the A350-1000 with the A350-900, both fitted with the Allegris cabin. The jet will carry a special livery marking the airline's 100th anniversary.

Heiko Reitz, a Lufthansa Airlines board member responsible for the Munich hub, said the airline was proud the A350-1000 was coming to Munich and that the type strengthens the premium hub there.
