Deutsche Aircraft opens Leipzig facility for D328eco production

Deutsche Aircraft has opened a facility at Leipzig/Halle Airport, moving its D328eco regional turboprop programme from development into production. The ribbon-cutting took place on September 29, 2026.

The site covers 60,500 square meters and houses the final assembly line. According to the company, it can build as many as 48 aircraft a year, using automated logistics and paperless production processes. Deutsche Aircraft describes these as a way to raise efficiency, quality and transparency during assembly.

Leipzig will handle aircraft assembly, flight-readiness work and customer deliveries. Engineering, flight testing and certification remain at Oberpfaffenhofen.

The first D328eco to be assembled in Leipzig is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2027, with series production planned to start in 2028.

Chief executive Nico Neumann said the two sites together give Germany an end-to-end capability for developing, certifying, industrialising, manufacturing and supporting complete aircraft. He said it is the first time in more than 60 years that every phase of an aircraft's lifecycle will sit under a German aircraft programme.

The company said the final assembly line also strengthens the country's ability to design, certify, test, manufacture and support complete aircraft.
