An easyJet flight heading for the Canary Islands turned back to Liverpool on Wednesday morning after the copilot became unwell during the climb out.

Flight U23385, an Airbus A320 registered G-UZEF, left Liverpool John Lennon Airport at about 07:30 local time bound for Fuerteventura. Roughly 20 minutes into the flight, while the aircraft was still over British airspace, the crew signalled a medical issue involving the first officer.

The captain opted to reverse course and asked to return to Liverpool. Controllers gave the aircraft priority for an expedited arrival, and ground medical services were requested to assess the pilot once the jet was on the ground.

The flight was on short final approach back into Liverpool at the time the account was published.
