Elixir crash: left flap separated before fatal impact, BEA says
Two company pilots died on 1 October when an Elixir aircraft crashed at Rochefort airfield in France. France's BEA has published an initial account of the sequence of events.

France's Bureau of Enquiry and Analysis for Civil Aviation Safety (BEA) has released an initial account of an Elixir aircraft crash that killed the two company pilots on board on 1 October.
The BEA says one of the pilots announced a low-level circuit after two circuits at Rochefort airfield. The left landing flap separated from the aircraft on the final turn onto runway 12, and the pilot lost control.
The aircraft's rescue parachute was deployed at low altitude before the aircraft struck the ground.
Elixir Aircraft and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) grounded all of the manufacturer's aircraft the following day.
