First KLM Airbus A350-900 completes maiden test flight

The first Airbus A350-900 destined for KLM completed a 92-minute test flight from Toulouse on September 4, with delivery expected in the coming weeks.

The first Airbus A350-900 for KLM made its initial test flight on September 4, departing Toulouse. Carrying test registration F-WZNM, the aircraft was airborne for one hour and 32 minutes. After delivery it will be registered PH-ZNA and named De Nachtwacht.

KLM will receive 22 Airbus A350-900s from a joint order of 50 placed by Air France-KLM Group. The new type is set to gradually replace the carrier's Boeing 777-200ER fleet. The first aircraft is expected to be delivered in the coming weeks, with commercial service planned to begin on October 23 on the Toronto route.
