Former German government Airbus A340 to go on museum display in Berlin
A forward fuselage section of the retired government Airbus A340-300 known as Konrad Adenauer will be loaned to the Bundeswehr Military History Museum at Berlin-Gatow, with a purchase option agreed.

A section of the former German government Airbus A340-300 named Konrad Adenauer, registration 16+01, will go on display at the Bundeswehr Military History Museum at Berlin-Gatow airfield. Lufthansa Technik is supplying the forward upper fuselage segment, including the cockpit and the original government cabin, as a loan, with a purchase option agreed.
The segment measures about 30 metres long, six metres wide and weighs 25 tonnes. It holds two conference rooms and the private office used by government members. The Luftwaffe took on the aircraft in 2011 and retired it at the end of 2023. Lufthansa Technik then bought it back and had it dismantled in Teruel, Spain, to recover spare parts.
The fuselage section is already on its way to Germany, travelling first by ship to Hamburg and then by inland waterways and road to Berlin. It is expected to arrive at the end of October or the beginning of November and will form part of a future permanent display.
