Frontier Airlines will return to Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport with 11 weekly flights to Las Vegas and a promotional fare, the carrier said in outlining its relaunch plans. It last served Oakland three years ago.

The move comes as Southwest Airlines has cut its presence at the airport by more than 20% over two years and Spirit Airlines has exited. That leaves less low-cost competition than before, which the source calls an opening for a carrier willing to compete aggressively on price.
