German parliament passes tighter oversight rules for sustainable aviation fuel
The Bundestag approved two aviation laws on 15 October, covering national implementation of the EU's ReFuelEU Aviation quotas and a new penalty tool for air traffic control oversight.

The German Bundestag passed two aviation laws on 15 October. One covers the national implementation of the European ReFuelEU Aviation regulation, which sets binding quotas for sustainable aviation fuel.
The Federal Aviation Office gains additional powers to monitor compliance with those requirements. It can impose sanctions for breaches, including fines and levies when airlines fail to meet their European refuelling obligations.
The second law gives the Federal Supervisory Office for Air Traffic Control a new sanction instrument. It can issue so-called warning payments when air navigation service providers do not follow official orders, or follow them incorrectly or late. Unlike a fine, no proof of fault is required for such a payment.
The source does not specify the size of the fines or the date the provisions take effect.
