Heavy rain disrupts flights at Porto Airport
Torrential rain flooded areas around the runway at Porto Airport on Thursday morning, forcing eight cancellations and seven diversions before operations returned to normal.

Heavy rainfall disrupted operations at Porto Airport on the morning of August 27, according to airport operator ANA Aeroportos de Portugal. Water and debris built up around the runway area, prompting a temporary, precautionary cut to the airport's capacity.
Eight flights were cancelled and seven inbound aircraft were diverted to other airports as a result, the operator said. Delays were also reported throughout the morning.
The airport stayed open throughout, rather than suspending operations entirely. Cleaning and drainage work to clear standing water near the runway was finished by around noon, according to the operator.
Capacity was then restored gradually until full operations resumed. The operator gave no further details on the extent of the delays or on which specific flights and airlines were affected.
