Ilyushin Il-114-300 completes hot-weather trials in Uzbekistan
The Russian regional turboprop finished a series of high-temperature tests, part of an effort to expand its type certification.
The Ilyushin Il-114-300 has finished a round of hot-weather testing in Uzbekistan, Russian state aircraft manufacturer UAC said. The trials exposed the regional turboprop to ground temperatures of up to 42 degrees Celsius.
The test aircraft flew 22 flights, logging more than 30 flight hours during the campaign. Among the maneuvers performed were five rejected takeoffs. Some of these used braking meant to simulate maximum wear on the brake discs, according to UAC.
UAC plans to submit the results to Russian aviation authorities to support an expanded type certificate. The Il-114-300 received its initial certification earlier this year, though with certain restrictions attached, UAC said.
Three production aircraft are currently at various stages of assembly, UAC added. No timeline was given for when the expanded certification might be granted, or when deliveries of the type could begin.
