Norwegian firm Noemi Aerospace signs LOI for electric seaplanes in Philippines
Noemi Aerospace has signed a letter of intent with Philippine operator Horizon Sun Charters for up to five electric amphibious aircraft, marking its entry into the Philippine market.
Norwegian aircraft developer Noemi Aerospace has signed a letter of intent with Horizon Sun Charters, a seaplane operator based in Palawan, Philippines, covering three amphibious aircraft plus options for two more.
According to the company, the deal marks Noemi's first step into the Philippine market. Horizon Sun Charters currently runs seaplane services from Palawan to destinations including El Nido and Coron.
The aircraft under development is designed to carry nine passengers. It's meant to take off and land on both water and conventional runways. Noemi plans an initial fully electric propulsion system, though the same airframe is intended to also accommodate hybrid or conventional powerplants.
Entry into service is targeted for 2030, the company said. No aircraft type designator or firm order value was disclosed in connection with the agreement.
