Portugal clears way for Super Tucano assembly line at Beja

Portugal's Council of Ministers approved a resolution on 20 August recognizing the planned final assembly facility for the Embraer A-29N Super Tucano as a project of national public interest, the Lusa news agency reported. The designation is meant to smooth certain regulatory or administrative hurdles for the project.

The facility is planned for the site of the Beja air base. This is subject to certain conditions set out in the government decision, though the details of those conditions were not specified.

Portugal and Embraer signed a memorandum of understanding for the assembly project in December 2025. Portugal has ordered twelve A-29N Super Tucano aircraft for its air force.
