IndiGo to launch new Gaya-Bangkok route
Indian carrier IndiGo will start a twice-weekly nonstop service between Gaya and Bangkok from October 26, targeting pilgrims visiting nearby Bodh Gaya.
IndiGo will begin direct flights between Gaya, in the Indian state of Bihar, and Bangkok on October 26, the airline said. The route will run twice weekly.
The service is expected to draw travelers heading to Bodh Gaya, a town near Gaya that is home to the Mahabodhi Temple, one of Buddhism's most significant pilgrimage sites. Airlines have periodically added routes tailored to religious travel demand in the region, and the new link fits that pattern.
According to the carrier, the addition builds on its already large presence between India and Thailand, where it currently operates more than 140 flights a week. Adding Gaya extends the airline's reach beyond its existing Indian gateways serving Thai destinations.
No aircraft type was specified for the new route, and further schedule or fare details were not disclosed in the announcement.
