KLM Airbus A321neo returns to Amsterdam after Lisbon tailstrike repairs
A KLM Airbus A321neo that struck its tail on landing in Lisbon in June has flown back to Amsterdam after almost three months out of service for repairs. The aircraft is due to re-enter regular service.
A KLM Airbus A321neo is back at Amsterdam nearly three months after a tailstrike during a landing in Lisbon, according to the airline's flight data reported by aeroTELEGRAPH.
The aircraft, registered PH-AXB, left Lisbon on Saturday evening as flight KL9870. It is scheduled to return to regular service on Sunday.
The tailstrike happened on 16 June, when the jet touched the runway with its rear section while landing in Lisbon on flight KL1583 from Amsterdam. The impact damaged the tail and the rear fuselage. No one was injured.
KLM took the aircraft out of service in Lisbon for technical inspections and repairs, and it stayed there until this weekend's ferry flight back to the Netherlands.
No further details on the extent of the structural damage or the repair work were provided.
