KLM marks 90 years of Vienna–Amsterdam service
KLM celebrated the 90th anniversary of its route between Vienna and Amsterdam, first flown in 1936 as part of the Blue Danube Express.
KLM is marking 90 years of flying between Vienna and Amsterdam. The Dutch carrier launched the route on April 20, 1936, as part of the Blue Danube Express. The war interrupted service, and flights resumed on July 31, 1949.
Today KLM operates up to four daily flights between Vienna and Amsterdam Schiphol in the summer schedule. The anniversary was celebrated on September 4 at the Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna.
Air France-KLM is observing a double anniversary in Austria this year. Air France has flown nonstop between Vienna and Paris for 60 years.
