Liebherr-Aerospace has opened a new competence centre for aircraft heat exchangers and thermal systems in Campsas, near Toulouse, investing more than 40 million euros in the site.

Liebherr-Aerospace has opened a new competence centre for aircraft heat exchangers and thermal systems at Campsas, near Toulouse. The company put more than 40 million euros into the expansion, its largest industrial investment at the site to date.

The addition of 12,000 square metres doubles the plant's footprint. New production equipment includes welding technology, brazing furnaces, automated machining systems and testing facilities.

Around 400 people are to be employed at Campsas by the end of 2026, according to the company. The site produces and maintains heat exchangers used for cabin air conditioning and pressure control, and for cooling technical systems.

Liebherr said the expansion is meant to raise production capacity for current aircraft programmes and to prepare for the requirements of future aircraft generations. Work on further digitalisation and automation of manufacturing is running alongside the build-out.
