US Navy awards Bell Boeing $90.8 million contract to modernise V-22 flight controls
The US Navy has contracted Bell Boeing to develop new flight-control computers and cockpit interface hardware for the V-22 Osprey tiltrotor, with development work scheduled to run until October 2030.

The US Navy has ordered $90.8 million of work from Bell Boeing to modernise the V-22 Osprey tiltrotor's flight control system, according to the manufacturer's contract announcement. The deal was made public on 15 October. It covers development of new flight-control computers, cockpit interface devices, related software and test equipment.
The work is meant to replace ageing electronic components, meet new cybersecurity requirements and resolve spare-parts supply problems. Development is due to finish by October 2030. Most of the effort will be based in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, and Fort Worth, Texas.
The upgrade covers V-22 fleets flown by the US Navy, the Marine Corps and the Air Force, along with foreign operators of the aircraft. The new computers are also intended to give extra processing capacity for future automation functions.
