Lufthansa to switch A380 West Coast routes to A350 for six weeks

Lufthansa will pull its Airbus A380 from two US West Coast routes in early 2027 and use the smaller A350-900 instead on daily Munich flights to Los Angeles International Airport and San Francisco International Airport.

The swap is due to start around mid-January and last about six weeks, through the end of February. The A380 is then set to return to both routes.

Lufthansa normally flies the A380 on its Munich services to Los Angeles and San Francisco. Under the revised schedule, both airports keep a daily Lufthansa link to Munich, with the A350-900 flying in place of the larger aircraft.
