New Air India Chief Declares Safety Top Priority
Tewolde Gebremariam, the incoming CEO of Air India, told employees that safety will be his foremost focus, encouraging staff to flag issues and halt operations when necessary.
Air India's incoming chief executive, Tewolde Gebremariam, said strengthening the carrier's safety culture is his top priority. In his first address to employees, the former Ethiopian Airlines CEO said staff should be encouraged to raise concerns and stop work if they see safety problems.
Gebremariam will take over from Campbell Wilson once the Indian government's security clearance is complete. Air India chairman N. Chandrasekaran put safety at the center of the airline's future, along with customer trust, operational reliability, and cost discipline.
